Statement on the accessibility of this website

Accessibility statement

The platform is meant to be usable by everyone, including with a keyboard, a screen reader or magnification. Here you can read what we do to achieve this and where limits remain.

Aim

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What the platform does to achieve this

  • All pages can be operated with the keyboard, and the focus is visible.
  • Photographs have image descriptions; title and photo credit appear as text beneath the image, never within the image.
  • Headings, lists and forms are marked up so that screen readers recognise them; form fields have labels and error messages in text form.
  • Texts and controls are designed for sufficient contrast, and there is a light and a dark display mode.
  • The pages also work without JavaScript and can be enlarged without loss of content.
  • External players, for example from Spotify, are loaded only after a click.

Known limitations

  • Historical documents such as programme booklets, posters and newspaper articles are in part available only as scans. Their content is summarised as text in the entries of the Press archive.
  • There are no transcripts or subtitles for audio recordings and videos.
  • We cannot influence the accessibility of embedded content from other providers, for example the Spotify player.

Review

The website was reviewed internally on 15 October 2026 on desktop and smartphone: keyboard operation, visible focus, contrast in light and dark mode, size of touch targets, image descriptions and behaviour without horizontal scrolling. It is known that individual links in running text, for example the footnote numbers in the biography, have smaller touch targets. An external review is still pending.

Feedback and contact

If you encounter a barrier or need content in another form, please write to us via the contact form. If possible, state the page concerned and how you use the website, for example which browser or assistive technology.
