The datasets

  • Discography: identifier, title, artist, year and date, label, catalogue number, EAN, formats, category, Pepl's role, place and time of recording, line-up with instruments and the address of the page.
  • Works: identifier, title and alternative title, year, authors, genre, instrumentation, ISWC, publisher, commissioner, first performance, the number of recordings listed and the address of the page.
  • Chronology: date with an indication of precision (day, month, year or decade), title, place, type of event and short text.
  • People: name, instruments, relationship to Harry Pepl, Wikidata identifier, number of releases and the address of the page.
  • Press: date, publication, title, author, type of item, language and, where available, the address of the original. The articles themselves are not included.
  • Literature: type of publication, author, title, year, place of publication and address.

Each dataset is available as CSV (UTF-8, semicolon as separator) and as JSON. The table further down this page leads to the files. Photographs, sound recordings, sheet music and texts on the platform are not part of the open data.

Reuse

Reuse of the data with attribution is welcome. Please name the Harry Pepl Archive as the source, with address and date of access; a suggested form is given under Citing. If you use the data in a larger undertaking, such as a database, a catalogue or a publication, we would be glad to hear about it (Contact).

Date and corrections

The files are generated on each request from the current state of the catalogues; the date appears in the file name and, in the JSON files, in the field “stand”. The field names and file names of the data are in German in every language version (“stand” means “as of”), so that the interface is the same for everyone. The catalogues are continually supplemented and corrected, so figures and content may differ from one download to the next. The identifiers of the releases (HP-T) and works (HP-W) remain the same. Please report errors, missing recordings or discrepancies via the contact form, ideally with the identifier and a source.

CSV with semicolon as separator and UTF-8; Excel opens the files directly. As of: 16 Oct 2026.
