unidentified newspaper (clipping without masthead, p. 9): Pat Metheny hört das Jazzzwio in der Jazzspelunke (Bildtext) new

Picture caption to a photograph by Evelyn Tambour: the American guitarist Pat Metheny, who had returned to Vienna for a repeat concert after his success at the Wiener Konzerthaus (one of Vienna’s main concert halls), uses a free evening to hear the Jazzzwio of Pepl and Pirchner at the Jazzspelunke, a jazz club in Vienna, where they are playing with Marc Johnson and Joris Dudli. According to the caption he is as taken with the art of the Jazzzwio as with the club and decides at short notice to play there himself. The photograph shows Metheny, Pirchner and Pepl; the newspaper and the date of publication are not known, and March 1983 is inferred from the context. The photograph itself is not published; the original can be viewed after signing in.

Metheny was not only taken with the art of the Jazzzwio, but also with the Spelunke.

Picture caption to a newspaper photograph: the American guitarist Pat Metheny hears the Jazzzwio with Marc Johnson and Joris Dudli at the Jazzspelunke, a jazz club in Vienna, and decides to play there himself; “Spelunke” (literally a dive) is here the short form of the club’s name.
