Even before “Flow” (1996, PAO Records), Pepl recorded his first solo piano album in November 1995 at the Bösendorfer factory in Vienna. At the time the recordings came out only in a tiny self-distributed edition; Heckel had access to the master as a CD copy. All pieces are by Harry Pepl. 25 years later, on 15 May 2020, “Consequence” was released digitally by Fullmax Recordings.1

About the cover and the title: The cover shows Harry Pepl in 1950 with his great-aunt and foster mother Hermine “Mina” Janda. The title deliberately alludes to the difficult family situation of the first post-war years: his mother had left the family shortly before and gone to the USA without the children, and Harry grew up with his great-aunt. This experience shaped his life and, according to Daniel Pepl, is ever present in his music and his playing; these piano recordings make it especially audible.1
