Clemens Salesny (saxophone, bass clarinet), Martin Bayer (guitar), Andreas Schreiber (violin) and Valentin Duit (drums) improvise as “Harry Pepl (tape) & The (Lonely) Single Swinger Band” with the original tracks from the home studio in Hernstein, Lower Austria, Austria. Each track comes from its own amplifier, a sound engineer mixes live, and so, besides the four musicians, several Harry Pepls are on stage, as it were. This is not a playback: the four play with an improviser, and because his tracks, too, came into being in the moment, every evening sounds different. The album “Live”, recorded at Porgy & Bess, Vienna’s best-known jazz club, at the Blue Tomato, another Viennese jazz club, and at the Bambergsaal in Villach, Austria, took second place in the Best Album category at the Austrian Jazz Award 2025.
