Kronos Quartet
World premiere in Graz, 1991
American string quartet that gave the world premiere of three pieces by Harry Pepl at the Orpheum in Graz on 3 December 1991.

The programme comprised “Moving Navel”, “String Quartet No. 8” and “Obsession”, all three as world premieres. Pepl had recorded the parts with the MIDI guitar and string sounds, and his students Andreas Schreiber and Helmut Weinhandl notated them. The commission was arranged by Heimo Steps of gamsbART (Graz concert promoter), who promoted the concert as part of the Steirischer Herbst (festival of contemporary art in Graz).
