1985 in the USA: Billboard recommends the ECM album with Werner Pirchner and Jack DeJohnette
Billboard rated the trio album “Recommended” in March 1985; DownBeat presented it on a full page in April 1985.

Two newly archived US magazines show how the album “Werner Pirchner / Harry Pepl / Jack DeJohnette” (ECM 1237) from the renowned European jazz label ECM was received there in 1985. Billboard, the US music trade magazine founded in 1894 and home of the industry’s leading charts, listed it in its issue of Saturday, 16 March 1985, in the Album Reviews under Jazz-Fusion as “Recommended”: “a delicate chamber jazz set rich in moods” that recalls the strongest early productions of Manfred Eicher, founder and producer of ECM.
In the April 1985 issue of DownBeat, the leading US jazz magazine founded in Chicago, USA, in 1934, the trio of Werner Pirchner, the Austrian composer and vibraphonist, Harry Pepl and Jack DeJohnette was presented on a full page as a “highly original and accessible trio sound”, in the “European ECM” series of the New York import distributor PolyGram Special Imports.
