Georg Pepl
Harry Pepl's son, editor of the scores of his Real-time Compositions.
Circle · Son
Harry Pepl's elder son. He holds a doctorate in musicology from the University of Vienna, lives in Germany and works there as a music journalist and critic. As editor he made his father's computer-recorded Real-time Compositions playable: the notation generated via MIDI, in the smallest note values, was at first no usable score; Georg Pepl edited it, distributed the voices and added performance instructions, as in the string quartet “Über Kurz oder Lang, Von der Weite und der Enge” for the Artis Quartet (1993). According to Heckel he had a decisive share in the creation of this work. He wrote the work commentary in the programme for the premiere at the Vienna Musikverein and the liner notes of the piano album “Flow” (1996).
