According to Kohler, the big band emerged from the Fehring Orchestra and was under the administrative direction of Erich Kleinschuster; conductors included Ernst Kugler, Karel Krautgartner and Richard Österreicher. In 1977 Pepl terminated his contract with the band in order to play only jazz from then on.1 The recordings with him were made up to 1977, some of them released only later.
